The highly anticipated fourth season of the Regency drama 'Bridgerton' is officially in the works! Amidst buzz about exploring Francesca Bridgerton and Eloise Bridgerton's lives in Scotland, the makers announced on Tuesday that the season will instead focus on Benedict Bridgerton.
The series, which has been building up Benedict's love life for three seasons, will finally see the bachelor step up on the marriage mart. Considering that Benedict has been portrayed as pansexual, exploring relationships with both men and women, the teaser announcement has ignited speculation and excitement among fans, particularly regarding his sexuality.
The upcoming season will follow the events of Julia Quinn’s third ‘Bridgerton’ novel, ‘An Offer From a Gentleman’. The novel tells the story of Benedict's quest to find a “lady in silver” he meets at a masquerade ball, who turns out to be a low-born woman named Sophie Beckett. After the makers changed Francesca's love interest from a man named Michael Stirling to a woman, Michaela, one fan put in a request on social media saying, "Please give him a male love interest, Shonda."
Another added, "I need Benedict Bridgerton to be gay, please please please!" A third fan expressed, "He's already so hot and charming. How can they make him even more desirable? Can't wait!"
In the past three seasons, Benedict has been seen as a man reluctant to settle down. However, this changes when he meets the captivating Lady in Silver at his mother's masquerade ball.
Season four will consist of eight episodes, with filming taking place in London. Netflix’s official logline for season four confirms Benedict’s love interest remains the same as in the book. It states, “The fourth season of ‘Bridgerton’ turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson). Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”
